Main Street Auction Co

It use to be most Friday nights you would find me at Main Street Auction Co behind Finders Keepers in Cartersville, GA. If you follow me on Twitter you probably already realize it was one of my favorite auctions. Estate sales are it's specialty whereas the other auctions in my area offer yard sale or cleaning supplies on Fridays. But it closed it's auction house a while back. They still do on site estate sales and auctions. Below are a couple of the items I have picked up at there over the years.

Offerings range from small pieces to large furniture, antique to current home decor. It is a good auction to find quality wood furniture. American Drew, Ethan Allen and others often drift across the block. There are plenty of small items also. I have won bids on Hull and McCoy pottery, Tiara glass, Hevend China at this auction.

Winning bids range from a dollar to a couple of hundred dollars depending on the item.

Main Street Auction Company, a really good Friday night auction.

Jeff Dobson Auction

Stopped by the Jeff Dobson Auction Saturday morning. Had enough fun that I actually bought some things.

Primitive Antiques on Ebay

The auction sits just south of Highway 108 on old Highway 5 between Ballground and Jasper, GA. Traveling north on I-575 / Hwy 515 from Canton, 108 will be the first red light. Take a right. Go about two miles to the stop sign at old Highway 5. Turn right again. The auction will be on the right just over the hill.

Compared to most of the auctions I have been to in North Georgia this auction house is large. It is well attended so get there early to find a good seat and preview the offerings. It is a fast moving auction so take a look around and note the lot numbers you are interested in.

On the morning I was there I came away with an antique spyglass, a bottle capper, a broad ax and a couple of iron kettles. There was furniture, tools, home decor, knives and box lots.

The Jeff Dobson Auction is worth going out of your way for. You can preview his inventory online at Auctiozip.com.

Hill City Auction

The Hill City Auction is no longer in business. : (
Estate Items on Ebay : )

It was located on the left side of Highway 53 just west of Jasper, GA heading towards Fairmount a few miles from Highway 515. There is a BP next to it.

I have only been on Friday nights. Both times it was crowded. Friday nights at Hill City Auction are Round Robins with multiple sellers. The first spot is given 45 minutes. After that each seller is allowed eight items then another seller takes the floor. Items vary through the night. One seller may have home decor the next may have tools or outdoor stuff. Occasionally an antique may wonder across the table.

There is a decent concession stand with snacks and hot food. Usually homemade desserts also.

Negatives are the parking and a ten percent buyer's premium. Though any auction that doesn't have a parking problem is probably not worth going to.

The Friday night Hill City Auction is a great source for flea market and yardsale items. There were also lots of cleaning supplies and snacks on the nights I attended.

Dixie Highway Yardsale Reseca, Adairsville and Calhoun

At the Dixie Highway Yardsale in Reseca , Adairsville and Calhoun this year, 2014 (This is still true in 2017) I did find a bunch of items for my booth. Reseca is a good hot spot to start at on this annual event. You can find it at the intersection of Hwy 136 and old Hwy 41. Work the area then move South through Calhoun. Found all kinds of stuff through Calhoun on the Dixie Highway Yardsale. On the South side near the airport is another one of my favorite hot spots for this sale. If you drive a few more miles towards Adairsville you will find several good clumps of vendors.Prices in this area run from 50 cents and up. Lots of bargains.Lots of Primitives, Ephemera and antiques as well as as common yardsale items.
Around the corner I found a rooster cookie jar, planter and other chicken stuff.

Wash basin and trinket boxes from Dixie Highway Yard Sale found just south of Reseca, Georgia.
